The process of soliciting for a bidder for the Public Private Partnership K-JE project is entering its final phase.
UNRA has this morning issued a Request For Proposals to the four consortia bidding for the construction of the multi million dollar Kampala Jinja Expressway.
The RfP is a document that announces a project, describes it, and solicits bids from qualified contractors to complete it.
There are only four shortlisted bidders inform of consortia who include ;

7. Vinci Contruction Terrassment.
2. CCCC - CFHEC CONSORTIUM (China)
This group includes;
1. China Communications Construction Company Ltd (Lead)
2. China First Highway Engineering Company Ltd.
3. STRABAG /ICTAS/EGIS/AIF3/STOA. (Austria, Germany , Poland, Turkey and France)
This group contains the following;

The timelines for the bidding process from issuance of RfPs to selection of best bidder shall take a period of atleast one year

The new Kampala-Jinja Expressway comprises the following components; Section 1 : The Kampala Souther Bypass (31km) Section 2 : Kampala to Namagunga (35km) Section 3 : Namagunga - Jinja (42km) It's worth noting that there have been delays on the project since 2018 when invitation for bids for the project was announced. UNRA says the delay was because there were no enabling laws for PPP projects and Road Tolls. #RecklessTravelers 🌍
